An early start from the foot of one of the most famous natural landmarks in Africa - Table Mountain, takes us on a short but exciting 15km section of mixed track conditions along the face of the mountain to Newlands Forest.
The liaison ride to Tokai Forest will be through the exclusive Constantia green belt suburb to the foot of the Constantiaberg. The moderate incline of the Constantiaberg soon becomes a steep jeep track that climbs through sections of plantations and onto the southwest side of the Silvermine Nature Reserve, home to more than 900 species of mountain fynbos, some found nowhere else in the world. The wide open spaces allow you to take in views across the Cape Flats, False Bay and Cape Point.
Although track conditions are reasonable, you might have to negotiate the odd section of rocky gravel.
The rest of our journey on the saddle back to Cape Town will be on coastal road along the famous Chapman's Peak road, Hout Bay, Camps Bay and Clifton.
A ride designed for fit mountain bikers, some terrain require technical ability and can be very hilly.
